Old releases

Preview 1, released on 11/08/2004

It's unstable, unfinished and prone to crashes, but something works. FreeMix has been entirely rewritten since then.

You'll need GTK+ 2.4, GStreamer 0.8 and some common GNOME 2 libraries (like libglade). Should work on any distribution featuring at least GNOME 2.6 (you need the older GStreamer 0.8 installed if you're running GNOME 2.14 or later, which ship with GStreamer 0.10).

The source package should work pretty much everywhere, but building it might be a little difficult. The binary package (built on an old Slackware release) should work without problems even on modern distributions. Untar it in a directory of your choice and run the bin/fm_launch.sh script (use a fast terminal like xterm, since it will output a LOT of debug info which might slow down your system).

Simply drop any audio file on one of the players and try it. Be careful with the seeking, it's unreliable.
